They say you learn something everyday right? Well at this wedding I learnt that wedding dresses can actually have a name! Yes, it has taken me over 100 weddings to learn this. Anyway, here you can see Kirstie sporting a Jenny Packham dress call ‘Joy’, getting married to Oliver at the freakin crazy (cool) venue that is The Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield. This is a preview for now

someone take me back here please!!

Man I love the Millennium Galleries! Definitely one of the coolest most modern venues in the UK. Here’s a few images from Kate & Jake’s wedding at Wentworth Church with reception at the millennium galleries in Sheffield

April’s been pretty shocking for weather right? Well not on this day thankfully. Hopefully Sam & Lee’s wedding at The Maynard in the Peak District can restore your faith that April is indeed an awesome month to have a wedding….

I heart the Maynard.

Last week I had my first opportunity to photograph a first look at a wedding. For those who don’t know, its basically where the bride and groom meet prior to the ceremony to see each other for the first time. Its very popular in the US, but extremely rare in the UK. Its quite an emotional and powerful thing to be part of and I’m priveledged to have witnessed Kate and James’ first look before they walked each other down the isle. I thought long and hard about how I would do it, and I decided that I didn’t want there to be any distractions in the images, all I wanted to show was Kate and James and the emotion that would unfold. Once I decided how to frame it, I then thought how I wanted to show it. I could show 3 photos in a seperate sequence, but would that really make people feel like they were there? I decided on the spot to do this and the feedback and tweets about people feeling emotional at seeing it over the past couple of days has been quite overwhelming. Thanks to Love My Dress and all those who shared it this week.

Sarah and James were married at Ringwood Hall in Derbyshire. April is usually a great month for weddings from a weather perspective, I can see why so many people choose to book a wedding in April. So far however this April hasn’t been too kind on the weather front! With half of the wedding party from Australia, Sarah and James had a true British wedding with the most rain I’ve ever experienced! It’s fair to say I got totally drenched taking the photos, but it was easily worth it and you’d be forgiven for thinking that bad weather will get you down on your wedding day, Sarah and James proved that’s not the case. And how cool are the black bridesmaid dresses?

Here’s a few reasons why I think Sam and Mike had an awesome wedding…
The got married in April and it almost snowed. The sun didn’t shine but nobody cared. I don’t know much about wedding dresses and stuff, but Sam had an awesome look right? I don’t know much about bridesmaids dresses, but these also look damn cool right? They had an ice cream VW camper van. Their guests got drunk on gin & tonic ice cream from the VW camper van. Their head table was called Lady and the Tramp. The Grand Parents kicked off the photo booth. I got to use a brand new camera..

Forgive me for posting some detail. I got carried away…
